A contemporary double height extension in Long Crendon, Buckinghamshire uses a large elevation of aluminium bi fold doors meeting on a corner with a set of aluminium sliding doors to extending their kitchen and living space out onto a decked patio area.
It can often be a lot easier to get planning permission to alter an existing building than to get permission for a new house. Additionally, extending appears to be a growing trend as it is much more cost effective to improve and extend your home to the desired layouts and requirements than moving home.
IQ were recently involved with a contemporary rear extension project, Eastington Lane in Aylesbury, providing all of the aluminium framed windows and doors. The modern renovation design in Buckinghamshire uses large elevations of aluminium bi fold doors on the ground floor meeting on a corner for an eye-catching, contemporary design finish which floods the kitchen and dining area with natural light. When the bi fold doors are parted away from the meeting structural post, it leaves a large open aperture for the indoor outdoor living experience.
The aluminium bi folding doors are positioned to the rear of the property, creating a modern patio door installation, meeting an aluminium sliding door providing access to the decked area without opening the entire aperture up. The slim framed aluminium framing on both the bi fold doors and sliding glass doors maximises the amount of glass, therefore increasing the daylight throughout the new kitchen and dining space.
Another key design feature to this contemporary new double height extension was the large gable end window, flooding the new master bedroom with natural light. This window configuration is perfect for taking advantage of the natural light with a pitched loft room.
The contemporary renovation in Buckinghamshire ensures a cohesive finish throughout the rear extension using a black, RAL 9005 powder coat to the aluminium framing creating an effective contrast with the light timber cladding. The contemporary extension blends perfectly with the existing property the bespoke slim frame bi fold doors, sliding doors and large gable end window forming an amazing feature to the rear of the home allowing the natural light to pour in.
All the glazing to this project was designed and installed by IQ Glass, based in Amersham.
