The Boathouse

With more mass new builds constructed on large scale developments, it’s nice to see an individual and unique new build, exactly to the owners’ requirements. When building a new home the location is key and this boathouse was constructed in an idyllic location with 360 degree views of greenery surrounding the property.

The contemporary new boathouse, was recently completed in a picturesque setting next to a large lake. The timber cladded house has been constructed to resemble a boat house with a modern design.

A flush floor finish was used with the sliding glass doors to continue a minimal appearance the glass and dark timber achieves, giving uninterrupted views of the unspoilt surrounding. The large glass panels were paired with the extremely slim framing sightlines of 21mm creating a large façade of glass bringing natural light into the open plan living spaces.

Moving timber shutters can be moved to cover the large corner elevation of glass when needed. The timber shutters were designed to match the slatted timber cladding of the rest of the building and when closed provides an element of privacy and shading within the largely glazed living areas.

The contemporary design of this new build fits perfectly with its surrounding, it’s hard to believe that this amazing piece of architecture is local and not far from bustling shops and markets.
